Macro Images

For this picture I edited the table on the bottom right side a little because there were some spots
that were kind of distracting. This is also my favorite picture that I took because of the colors and how the flower is the main focal point. Also, the pop of green from the stem of the plant makes it interesting. I like how you don't really know what it is at first.

This is an isicle that was hanging from my house and I went on my hot tub cover to get up close to it. It was hard to stay focused on the isicle because my camera wanted to focus on the tree in the background.

This is a fake sunflower and I edited the right edge of the brown center because there was chunks of hot glue from when it was made.

This is snow on the top of my porch railing. I edited out my boat lift in the middle right side.

There was a reflection of me and my camera on the ornament so I had to edit it in the middle of the ornament so you couldn't see it.

Montage #2

This is my second montage... First I found a picture of a flower and decided to have the idea of people jumping into the center of it. Then I added the cloudy background because it makes it look like a huge flower. I made the pool in the middle by selecting a shape out of a picture of water. I lowered the opacity a little bit so it looked more like a puddle of water instead of a solid pool. I selected each person seperately and also the center stick of the flower so it would appear infront of the water. I also changed the color of the cloudy background to a darker and less bright blue because I thought it meshed with the water too much. I also made the water a brighter more vibrant blue.
I think the focal point of this picture is definately the flower but more specifically the water because all of the people jumping in are pointing towards it. I also created a glow around it to make the background "revolve" around it. I think there is unity because everything in the picture has the same thought concept of jumping in the water. Lots of images were layered with this because of all of the items I added to it and even the center stick of the flower. The color is supposed to be more intense with the flower and the action going on around it. I tried not to be powerful with the background color to prevent it from being a distraction. I used the rule of thirds also by putting the flower on the left side of the photo.
---?? What is one thing I should have done differently with this photo ??--

Montage #1

This is my first montage... I started with a picture of two sunflowers. One in focus and one not in focus. I cut out the focused flower. I decided to put a picture of a girl doing a cartwheel and decided to make it into a pattern along the petals. I also changed the coloring of the sunflower (originally it was yellow). It was hard to do the background because I didn't want to have anything too distracting.
The rule of thirds is used because the sunflower is on the left side. I think the focal point is the purple center of the sunflower because it's a powerful color and the girl doing cartwheels is surrounding it. The color of the girls shirt also directs the eye toward the center of the sunflower. I think unity has been made through the pattern of the petals and the girl doing cartwheels. I layered the background, sunflower, and girl. I also grouped the layers of the girl at the end. I think that the mood is being happy and unified because it has a strong pattern and the colors are bright and colorful.
--?? What is something I could have added to the photo to make it more interesting ??--

Know Your Camera

Name: Canon Powershot SD850
Megapixels: 8.0

10 Things I Learned:
1. The aperature is automatically set
2. I can set the camera to take black and white pictures
3. I can set the camera to take sepia pictures
4. The shutter speed is automatically set
5. If I push the button halfway down, it automatically focuses
6. I can change the settings to landscape, action, etc.
7. I can use a red eye option
8. I can have a self timer of 5, 10, or 20 seconds
9. I can delete pictures in bulk, not just one at a time
10. I have a macro setting to zoom closer

3 Questions
1. How do I change the F-Stop?
2. If i zoom with the macro will it affect the picture quality?
3. What setting would I use to make the background blurry, but still focus on an object?
